LV Care Group has been shortlisted for the LangBuisson Excellence in Training Award, for innovation in the delivery of training to health and social care professionals.
It is the first time the locally owned, run and focused provider of premium care services in Jersey and the Isle of Man, has been shortlisted for the prestigious UK industry awards.
The LangBuisson Awards celebrate businesses that have set new standards of excellence within their sector. Over 1,000 industry leaders will be attending the black-tie awards ceremony in London, organised by the health and social care business intelligence provider.
In March 2020, LV Group launched their online training platform through the Care Academy, in answer to the need for continued staff education despite the Covid pandemic. For the first three months it offered free access to this training to any individuals working or wanting to work in care outside of the LV Group, issuing 4,418 certificates. Despite the lost revenue this move reflected the group’s commitment to the healthcare sector as a whole, and the values and importance it places in ensuring staff are highly trained for the benefit of those they care for, as well as individual career progression.
LV’s staff are some of the most accredited and qualified in Jersey and the Isle of Man. Its staff and services are deeply rooted within their communities, offering a cohesive approach to care with its Home Care, Dementia Care, Mental Health & Wellbeing Care, Nursing and Residential Accommodation and pharmacy services.
Nick Bettany CEO commented: “The originality of our online training platform has been a major factor in our continued success during what was a very challenging year for everyone. Despite Covid, we have increased the number of nursing beds for the Island. Critically we were also able to increase and upskill our staff and our commitment to training and the professional development of those staff is key to that achievement.”
The online training covers 49 courses and is available across a range of web browsers and devices. Many of the courses use blended-learning, enabling staff to combine their online theory with real-life practice.
Verity Sangan (pictured), head of training for LV Care Group, commented: “We took the decision to put commercial needs aside for what was a critical time for all during the height of the pandemic, and to launch a service that would not only benefit our staff and end users, but all of those who work and use health care in our islands. I’m delighted that it was so successful and that the work our team put into producing this innovative solution has been recognised in the award shortlisting.”
