Logicalis is delighted to support the Guernsey Bereavement Service (GBS) in transforming its IT, allowing staff to manage counselling services remotely for the first time.
Thanks to the donation of new equipment and a system upgrade, the GBS team was able to work from home during the recent lockdown, managing volunteers to keep services running for Islanders in need of support.
Logicalis replaced two ageing PCs and screens and an old laptop with new kit, and upgraded the IT system and cyber security, setting everyone up to work across Microsoft 365. GBS now operates a joined-up system for booking appointments, with files held in the cloud allowing counsellors to access them remotely.
James Pinnock, Service Delivery Manager, Logicalis, said: “Getting hold of new IT equipment during the pandemic was a challenge due to the vast numbers of people suddenly requiring laptops to work from home. We are delighted to have been able to help the Guernsey Bereavement Service so they could continue operating during the recent lockdown and have a system that evolves with them. The new equipment is joined up using a cloud-based system with proper security to safeguard sensitive data allowing staff to work securely from anywhere.”
Guernsey Bereavement Service is a volunteer counselling service helping adults across the Bailiwick come to terms with significant loss.
John Moses, Chair of Directors, Guernsey Bereavement Service, said: “Thanks to the generosity and support of Logicalis, we now have a 21st century IT system. Staff can work more efficiently, from the office or at home, allowing us to better manage the service and continue supporting clients during difficult times of their lives.
“GBS supports over 150 people a year, helping them work though bereavement and other significant loss. The service has been particularly important during the pandemic when many Islanders have been separated from loved ones and may not have been able to say goodbye properly.”
