Loganair’s return to Guernsey headlined a busy bank holiday weekend, with around 15,000 travellers through Guernsey Ports.
Loganair’s new Guernsey-Edinburgh service is the airline’s first commercial route to the island since 2019.
The Scottish airline’s distinctive Tartan-tailed ATR touched down in Guernsey at around 18:30 on Saturday evening, where it was greeted on arrival with a traditional water cannon salute by the Guernsey Airport Fire & Rescue Service.
Edinburgh was one of 18 destinations available from Guernsey Airport at the weekend, with around 8,000 people flying to or from the island.
A further 7,000 passengers passed through Guernsey Harbours, representing a 14% increase in sea travel compared to the same weekend last year.
James Underwood, head of commercial for Guernsey Ports, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Loganair ahead of their return to Guernsey.
“Loganair’s new weekend service complements the existing midweek services operated by Aurigny and further improves connectivity between Guernsey and Edinburgh. This new weekly service provides more choice and more versatility for people travelling between our island and the Scottish capital.
“Working with our airline partners, Guernsey Ports is focussed on increasing travel options for people locally and promoting Guernsey as a destination for visiting travellers.”
Luke Lovegrove, chief commercial officer for Loganair, said: “The launch of our direct service between Edinburgh and Guernsey offers a seamless connection between two distinct destinations and underlines our ongoing commitment to regional connectivity.”
