The Guernsey Institute apprentices completing the final year of the Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating are benefiting from additional materials and equipment which have been donated by Norman Piette and R G Phillips & Son.
The materials include a range of brushes, rollers, scrapers and pasting tables and the generous donations will support the apprentices’ learning and development during their technical training undertaken during the one day per week they spend at The Guernsey Institute (TGI).
Head of Department Tom Le Sauvage said: “We are extremely grateful for the support from these two companies whose generosity has ensured that our apprentices had a brand new set of kit to use for their final year. Building strong relationships with local employers is key to the ongoing success of our apprenticeship programmes and this is a great example of the level of support we have from local industry.”
Richard Dudley, Sales Representative for Norman Piette said: “We were delighted to be able to help when Joe from R G Phillips & Sons Ltd approached us and it’s great to see the kit being put to good use.”
Two of the six apprentices are currently employed by R G Phillips & Sons Ltd.
Senior Manager, Joe Mauger added: “The apprenticeship programme is absolutely vital to the future of all areas of the construction industry. Without it, we would not be developing the next generation of industry professionals. The time the apprentices spend at The Guernsey Institute is key to ensure that they gain the knowledge and skills that they may not have been exposed to on site.
“We are very pleased to have made this contribution and look forward to seeing the apprentices’ future success together with our growing relationship with TGI.”
