ArtHouse Jersey is inviting local artists/creatives to apply for a cost-free studio space for one year in the heart of St Helier, thanks to a new partnership between ArtHouse Jersey and Andium Homes.
The space, situated on the ground floor of Cyril Le Marquand Court (pictured), will benefit a creative individual or group by providing a dedicated studio to create, show and sell their work in a vibrant community setting.
In exchange for the studio, the selected artist/s or creative/s will run workshops, drop-in sessions or some form of regular activities accessible to Andium Homes residents and the local community. These activities should provide a chance for people to simply enjoy some creative pursuits or develop new skills, without it being necessary for them to have any aspiration to become an artist.
The studio, located in a highly visible and pedestrianised area on Charles Street in St Helier, offers not only commercial potential but also an inspiring environment surrounded by a cafe and yoga studio. Cyril Le Marquand Court is Andium Homes’ most recent development, completed in late 2023 on the site of the former Ann Court. The unit ArtHouse Jersey is taking on and making available to local creatives is in an area of high footfall and commercial status, meaning the successful artist will be able to display and sell their work whilst engaging with the community, enriching both their own practice and the lives of local residents.
Director of ArtHouse Jersey, Tom Dingle, said: “ArtHouse Jersey is delighted to partner with Andium Homes on this, providing a much-needed opportunity to support our vibrant community of local artists and creatives. It’s no secret that space is of a premium in Jersey, especially so for those who are pursuing creative careers, so to be able to take a year-long ownership of a centralised location to create, sell work and inspire the community is a rare opportunity indeed. We look forward to seeing who is interested in coming forward, and from those who are passionate about creating positive arts related activities for the community to enjoy.”
Peter Le Gresley, Regeneration and Placemaking Lead, Andium Homes, said: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with ArtHouse Jersey to offer an artist workspace at our new development Cyril Le Marquand Court. We hope that our clients will enjoy the offer of free art-based workshops throughout the year. At Andium Homes, we strive to create beautiful, inviting neighbourhoods that foster a sense of community, not only for those who live and work there but also those who pass by.
“This collaboration with ArtHouse Jersey will play a pivotal role in transforming this area into a vibrant, inviting place for all to enjoy.”
