A local choir director has written and recorded a Christmas song raising money for Jersey Hospice Care’s Bereavement Support Services.
Hannah Jacques, Musical Director of Acapella Jersey, has written ‘You’re Still Here’ – a touching and heartfelt song about carrying on after losing a loved one.
Hannah was inspired by a choir member’s personal experience. She explained: “Tragedy struck close to home when we lost a beloved choir member’s daughter to suicide. It reminded us of how hard it is for families to carry on after losing someone they love. That’s where bereavement support comes in – providing a helping hand during those tough times.”
Hannah also experienced first-hand care from the Hospice when she was supported by the team after her grandma died in 2018. Now, Hannah wants to give back and help Jersey Hospice Care continue its vital work.
Mary Le Hegarat, Lead Counsellor at Jersey Hospice Care said: “We provide a free counselling service to the community for anyone who has been bereaved at any time of their life. Money raised also goes towards providing free resources such as books to help both adults and children make sense of their grief and develop coping skills.”
Hannah’s goal is to present Hospice with a “big, bright cheque!” in 2024 from proceeds of the single.

The Community Bereavement Service is available to adults and children of all ages in need of support, whilst coming to terms with the death of a relative or friend. All support is person centred and non-directive and can provide an opportunity to talk in confidence about the effects of the bereavement.
