Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands (LBFCI) have awarded a total of £350,000 in unrestricted funding from their 35 Grant Programme.
Ten successful applicants have each received £35,000 to support their vital work across the Channel Islands.
The 35 Grant Programme which launched last year to mark the Foundation’s 35th Anniversary was in addition to LBFCI’s usual annual grant giving activities. The big difference with the 35 Grant Programme is that the funds are unrestricted – a funding concept that is new to the Channel Islands.
This flexibility will allow the charities to deploy the funds as they best see fit to help make a difference to lives of the people they support. Thanks to the close relationship between the Foundation and Lloyds Banking Group, the Foundation is uniquely placed to ensure support isn’t just financial. Each successful charity will have access to a Lloyds Banking Group mentor who will provide regular support to help the charities achieve their organisational objectives.
This has a dual benefit of helping local charities whilst providing enriching experiences for Lloyds Banking Group colleagues.
The 35 Grant Programme focused on three key areas across the Bailiwicks:
- Domestic Abuse
- Employability support for disadvantaged individuals
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
Jo Le Poidevin, Executive Director of Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands, said: “The aim of our 35 Grant Programme was to help our islands’ communities recover from Covid-19, and the chosen funding areas were those which the Foundation believed were particularly pertinent in helping that recovery. As a Foundation, we continuously look at ways we can evolve and adapt in order to deliver the best support and achieve the greatest impact. Introducing the unrestricted funding allowed more flexibility in how the charities can use the funds, and will allow them to be more responsive, more agile and more forward-thinking”.
The 35 Grant Programme grants approved by the Foundation last week were to the following charities:
- Alderney Mind
- Beresford Street Kitchen Jersey
- Carers Guernsey
- Guernsey Caring for Ex-Offenders
