Poppy Murray has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands.

With extensive knowledge of the charitable sector, digital marketing and issue led campaigning, Poppy’s diverse career includes roles in finance, multinational retail, legal, journalism and charity sectors in both Guernsey and the UK.

Philippa Stahelin, Chair of the Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands, comments: “As a Board, we are constantly reviewing our skills sets and looking at what the Foundation needs to enable us to achieve our objective – to support charities in the Channel Islands which helps to strength our island’s communities. We are looking forward to Poppy joining as a Trustee and benefiting from her understanding of campaigning, the charitable sector and the digital landscape.”

Poppy (pictured) is a board member of Sophie’s Smile Ponies and The Ghost Seas Project charities. In March 2021, Poppy created the BE LADS© initiative, which seeks to raise awareness of the issue of women’s safety when walking alone and gives advice to men about ways they can help women feel safer. The initiative has been adopted by the States of Guernsey and is now part of the Year 11 PSHCE curriculum in all Guernsey schools.

Commenting on her appointment, Poppy says: “The last 18 months has really put a spotlight on the extraordinary work and essential role of charities in the Channel Islands. It also highlighted the acute and complex challenges charities face. The way that the Foundation responded so swiftly to support charities during this time really resonated with me. I am looking forward to joining the board and being part of the positive impact, the Foundation enables for our communities.”

Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands works in partnership with charitable organisations which support people, particularly those who are disadvantaged. This is primarily through its grant and matched giving programmes, and through sharing time, expertise, and skills with one-to-one support for charities and for the wider sector through training and events.
