Channel Islands and Birmingham communications consultancy, Liquid, has been awarded the Public Relations and Communications Association’s (PRCA) Workplace Champion Award for 2020.
The PRCA accolade celebrates the communications sector’s leading places to work, live and thrive and featured a four-strong roster of finalists for its Medium Agency category. Based on four key criteria, Liquid was crowned the winner for its clear, strategic and long-term commitments to staff welfare, account management, recruitment and retention, and business practices.
Lisa Downes, Liquid’s Channel Islands Director said: “Great teamwork is essential for all successful businesses and that can only be achieved by creating the right work environment for all staff. The value of teams has never been more important than in the current Covid-19 crisis and it is so important that we all take the time to look out for each other. We can all play our part in being workplace champions each and every day.”
Liquid believes the key to creating a happy workplace lies in valuing its team, creating opportunities for growth and maintaining positive client relationships. The consultancy was awarded Workplace Champion based on commitments to: staff welfare; account management; recruitment and retention; and business practices.
Here are the details of those commitments:
- Staff welfare
We invest in our people. Each Liquidite has a personalised CPD plan, we have supported sabbaticals to help people develop their skills, and our new Birmingham office has been designed to feel like a home from home.
During these challenging times too, Liquidites have come together whilst working remotely to ensure we’re continuing to do great work, supporting our clients, and looking after each other.
- Account management
We give our team the chance to work on a whole host of accounts that match their personalities, skillsets and interests. Our team members also have the chance to support on pro bono accounts including Association of Guernsey Charities, the Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust and Whitley Fund for Nature.
- Recruitment and retention
We work hard to employ the right people in the right roles. Not only that, but we also offer work placements, internships, and our two-year graduate scheme Source – all of which are paid positions – to give people from all backgrounds an opportunity to experience life in a PR consultancy.
- Business practices
We treat each other, our work and our clients with respect. This is one of our key values, so our two-week induction process includes an introduction to the PRCA Code of Conduct and ethics sessions. For our food division, we source local ingredients from sustainable farms, we have a bike-to-work scheme and actively encourage the use of public transport.
