As a thank you to His Excellency, the Lt Governor of Jersey, the trustees of the Jersey Around the Island Walk Trust, the charity walk in the Channel Islands, presented him with a painting by a local artist.
The painting by Eddie Blampied was presented just before the start of the Lt Governor’s Challenge at Les Fontaines.
The Lt Governor’s Challenge (LGC) was started in 2007 to allow families and those with young children to be able to take part in the Around the Island Walk over a period of 4 years.
Since inception each Lt Governor has taken part enthusiastically and given great support and Sir Steven Dalton has been no exception. He has walked all four sections with his black Labrador. Lady Dalton has walked with him when not engaged with other charity work.
In the region of 250 adults take part in the LGC with 75 to 100 children. The number of children is an estimate as they are not charged, so there is no accurate record of them.
The Main Walk, Relay and LGC has had in the region of 26,000 participants and raised over £2.6M for over 130 charities.
The trustees say they are extremely grateful to Sir Stephen and Government House for their interest and participation and wish His Excellency and Lady Dalton a long and happy retirement.
