L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa is helping to make St Brelade’s Bay, one of the island’s most popular beaches, even safer for both guests and locals to stay and play.
The team have donated 25% of the funds needed for two new potentially life-saving defibrillators for each end of the Bay which will both be in public view.
L’Horizon already has a defibrillator installed in the hotel but the team wanted to help ensure the safety of guests and locals whilst enjoying the beautiful sandy space on its doorstep and were delighted to make a £1000 contribution to the fundraising campaign set up by two water sports companies, Absolute Adventures and Jono’s Watersports.
Commenting on the initiative, L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa General Manager Thomas Burford (pictured) said: “Sean and Jono have really encouraged local businesses and beach users to get involved and we were really keen to help them raise both the funds needed and awareness that these defibrillators are in public areas and could potentially save a life. This equipment will help support the lifesaving work of the RNLI beach guards during the summer season and give everyone enjoying St Brelade’s Bay peace of mind all year round.”
Sean Kinsella of Absolute Adventures said: “We are so grateful and blown away by such a generous donation from L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa, it really shows us that the community spirit in the Bay is stronger than ever. Everyone works really hard in the Bay to show all visitors a wonderful and safe experience. The fact that the team at L’Horizon recognise the need for the public access AEDs shows that they are in tune with what happens all over the Bay. Truly reinforcing the connection between us all.”
