The team at L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa have launched ‘Food Bank February’ in a bid to help islanders feed their families this winter and support a local charity at the same time.
Staff and members of the Health Club at the AA Four Red Star hotel are collecting a whole host of non-perishable items throughout the month for the hotel’s chosen charity, Brighter Futures.
Brighter Futures have seen more and more demand for their services as some islanders contend with the cost of living. They are currently supporting more than 150 families every week and have been appealing to islanders to help fill their larder at the HQ The Bridge, which is accessed when clients are in need.
Donations of canned foods, rice, pasta, tea, coffee, toiletries, nappies, wipes, and other items can be dropped off to the Spa at L’Horizon for the team to pass on.
They are also on the lookout for any nutritious additions to fill school lunchboxes, such as cartons of juice, cereal bars, boxes of raisins and rice cakes.
Sarah Nibbs, Fundraising, Events and Partnerships Manager from Brighter Futures added: “The two months after Christmas are always very challenging. We remain very grateful to Hand Picked Hotels for their ongoing kindness to us and the families we support. Helping us to fill our larder is a really practical way to make a difference to our most vulnerable client families at the time when they need us most.”
