Hand Picked Hotels is celebrating the 50-year service anniversary of Alan Ronxin, maintenance co-ordinator at L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa.
The milestone reflects Alan’s unwavering loyalty, passion, and invaluable contributions to the hotel and its guests since he joined the team back in November 1974.
Alan began his journey at L’Horizon as a maintenance junior aged 17, inspired by his family’s ties to the hotel. His father, who once ran a café next door, was part of the maintenance team, while his siblings were a receptionist and pastry chef.
Beyond his responsibilities overseeing health, safety, and fire systems, Alan’s extensive knowledge has made him an invaluable advisor to all departments.
Reflecting on his career, Alan shared: “I’ve been blessed to work at a place I love, surrounded by people who feel like family. The bay, the hotel, and the variety of tasks keep me energised. Hand Picked Hotels have been fantastic to me, and I’ve always believed in the values set by Guy and Julia. I’m looking forward to reaching the next milestone, as long as my health allows. After all, I’m only 50 at heart!”
Alan’s 5-decade strong career has seen him witness a host of royals and celebrities pass through the hotel. Notable moments include a visit by Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1978, as well as other distinguished guests like Bruce Forsyth, Terry Wogan, and the English rugby team.
Thomas Burford, General Manager at L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa, said: “Alan’s commitment to L’Horizon is inspiring. His knowledge, work ethic, and the genuine care he shows for our guests and team members embody our core values. We’re incredibly grateful for his 50 years of service and look forward to many more.”
