The Leaders in WellBeing Summit 2019 took place on Friday, 28 June on the last day of World WellBeing Week, a new awareness event registered by Leaders in WellBeing founder, Beverley Le Cuirot.
Attendees at the conference which took place at the Pomme d’Or Hotel were addressed by 10 UK and local speakers on a range of different yet interrelated wellbeing topics.
There were many valuable insights shared, the key message which emerged being that individuals can choose their own path. “’It starts with you’ was the over-riding takeaway for me,“ said Mrs Le Cuirot. “We cannot force people to make their own wellbeing a priority in their lives but we can lead and encourage them and that is what the Leaders in WellBeing event was all about,” she continued.
The winners of the Leaders in WellBeing Awards 2019 were then celebrated at a ceremony following the conference. Both events were sell-out events, attracting more than 110 delegates to the Summit and over 170 to the Awards.
“I was absolutely delighted with the uptake for the events and the number of nominations we received for the Awards,” said Mrs Le Cuirot, the founder and organiser of both events. “Never in all my years of organising Awards ceremonies have we received as many as 70 nominations in the first year, it really goes to show how active the businesses and practitioners are in the Channel Islands with respect to wellbeing. The huge response from employers in all sectors across the business community in both Jersey and Guernsey augurs well for the future prospects of our economy and for the overall health and wellbeing of our people.”
The Leaders in WellBeing Summit & Awards 2019 initiative was supported by main sponsor, HSBC, awards sponsors Rossborough Healthcare, Rossborough Financial Services, and The Insight Group, all keen supporters of wellbeing.
In total, more than 70 nominations were received, with almost 30 businesses, groups or individuals from Jersey and Guernsey shortlisted in 10 categories. Mrs Le Cuirot commented: “Such was the response and the quality of entries that the judges decided to award an additional award, the Customer Health & WellBeing Award for practitioners most focused on their customers. There were also several commendations in most categories and a joint winner announced for the Giving Back Good Business Award where the entries were just too close to call.”
The Awards were judged by a panel of independent international experts and the short listed nominees included: Accuro Trust (Jersey) Ltd, Alex Picot Chartered Accountants, Align Health Agency, Club Soulgenic, Collas Crill, Complete Facilities, Computershare Channel Islands, Deloitte, Extinction Rebellion Jersey, Fairway Group, Granite Le Pelley – Garenne Construction Group, Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC), Highlands College, Highvern Trustees, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Jersey Employment Trust (JET), Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC), Jersey Recovery College, JTC, Le Masurier, LINC Community, Ocorian, Ports of Jersey, Shalbeck Life Centre, Soulgenic, Tap It Better, The Aurora Lifestyle, TrustFord, Voisins, and Yoga Nidra Jersey; many with multiple teams and individuals in several Awards categories.
