Advocate Barbara Corbett, Senior Partner at Family Law Firm Corbett Le Quesne has announced that Lady Hale will give the key note speech at their International Family Law Conference on Friday 7th October.
In 2004 Lady Hale was appointed the first female Lord of Appeal in Ordinary and she also served as the first female President of the Supreme Court in England and Wales. Lady Hale is possibly most well-known for ruling that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson acted unlawfully in suspending Parliament over Brexit in September 2019.
Mrs Justice Judd, will be chairing the conference which is entitled ‘Abusive Behaviour, Control in Divorce and Earnings and Finances’.
Over 200 people are attending from the UK and Guernsey, including judges and KCs and the acting Children’s Commissioner.
Corbett Le Quesne will be holding a raffle at the event in support of Brighter Futures, their charity for 2022. Volunteers from the charity will be in attendance and Lady Hale will draw the raffle.
Advocate Le Quesne commented: “Lady Hale will also be joining us on our annual RIB trip with Seafaris so we hope we can show Jersey off at its finest with some beautiful weather and we can all enjoy the excellent facilities at Hotel L’Horizon.”
