KPMG has announced that it is once again funding access to BecomingX Education for the following academic year, for all schools in Guernsey.
Designed to help schools deliver world-class personal development programmes, BecomingX Education includes more than 200 lessons, assemblies and activities covering Years 4-13. Each topic includes a personal interview from some of the world’s most unique talent, given just for BecomingX.
Teachers have access to videos from over 60 of the world’s most inspiring people, with students learning from the likes of Roger Federer, Dame Stephanie Shirley, Julia Roberts, and Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who share their insights on what it really takes to succeed. They have been brought together on this incredible platform to teach personal attributes such as problem solving, leadership, determination and resilience that are not formally covered in the curriculum. The platform also provides practical insights from leading educators, academics and experts to help teachers enhance their delivery.
Dermot Dempsey, Senior Partner, KPMG in the Crown Dependencies said: “KPMG are pleased to be continuing into our second year of sponsorship of BecomingX Education. Year one had really good uptake across schools and we’re looking forward to as many teachers as possible getting involved this year. There is something for everyone to gain from BecomingX Education and those who will gain the most, are our children. The platform provides teachers with additional resources to help students build the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to succeed in life. No matter what topic you teach, there is access to world renowned talent such as astronauts, adventurers, politicians and athletes.”
Nick Dyson, Deputy Principal at The Ladies’ College Guernsey, has previously worked with the platform. He is very excited to see the program in Guernsey and said: “I had the pleasure of working closely with Paul Gurney and the team at BecomingX when working at Francis Holland School in London. After arriving in Guernsey, I was delighted to hear how KPMG were generously supporting the BecomingX Education platform across all schools. As Deputy Principal (Student Development and Innovation), I will be encouraging students at the Ladies’ College to log in and benefit from the practical support and exceptional personal development opportunities on offer.”
Paul Gurney, co-founder and CEO of BecomingX said: “We’re delighted to be working with KPMG and all schools in Guernsey to complement their current curriculum with exceptional learning experiences. We know that academic proficiency in isolation is not enough to enable young people to thrive in our rapidly changing world, and the best schools are actively building a broader set of skills to equip their students for the future. If you’re a teacher but haven’t registered on the platform yet, then just ask your Headteacher or PSHE lead to register you and get started.”
