A five-a-side charity football tournament which raised money for Ukraine last year is set to return in 2023, raising money for Les Amis.
The Kick On for Les Amis tournament is aiming to raise at least £10,000 for the charity that provides essential services and support to islanders with learning disabilities.
The five-a-side football tournament is on Saturday 13th May 2023 and will be held at Les Quennevais School from 9am to 1pm. Each game will be 10 minutes long with teams playing four matches in their allocated group with the top two teams progressing into the knockout rounds. The entry fee per team is £500, with all proceeds going to Les Amis. The winning team will receive the prestigious ‘Kick on for Les Amis’ trophy.
Tom Stead, organiser of the Kick On for Les Amis tournament, is looking for the last few teams to sign up: “We had a lot of fun when we organised this last year and we are expecting a great turn out from those that love the speed and intensity of five-a-side. We are still looking for businesses to form teams and take part and if we get 20 teams, we’ll raise £10,000 for Les Amis.”
Les Amis provides quality services to support people with learning disabilities or associated conditions, helping them to reach their full potential and gain equal opportunities. Jason Loveless, Head of Support Services at Les Amis, added: “This will be a great fundraising event for Les Amis and I am delighted that the organisers have chosen to support our charity. Fundraising takes many forms, from wearing different brightly coloured socks to the popular raffle for a VW Campervan, but we rely on it to be able to function. All the funds that are raised make an enormous difference to our ability to provide daily services and so this event will help many islanders. We are hugely grateful to the organisers.”
Teams that want to register a team can do so by emailing either Tom or Jonny.
