Julius Baer Guernsey has made a financial donation that equates to 90 nights’ worth of accommodation at the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation’s compassionate housing, next to Southampton Hospital.
The donation comes as the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF) launches its ‘Buy-A-Night’ campaign, which allows islanders and businesses to purchase a number of nights to help with running costs, which helps to keep families together while they are away from home.
The PPBF’s compassionate housing – Aggie’s Burrow and Isaac’s Pad – are cosy, private and well-equipped flats that are a lifeline for Bailiwick of Guernsey families of premature babies or critically ill children requiring off-island treatment.
Isaac’s Pad is named for Isaac Pickford, whose dad Robert works at Julius Baer and was supported by the charity when Isaac was born prematurely.
Robert said: “The PPBF is a charity that’s extremely close to the hearts of our family and has helped so many Guernsey people. I’m so pleased that the bank has chosen to help them launch the ‘Buy-A-Night’ campaign and is supporting their latest fundraising efforts – I know first-hand what a wonderful and valuable resource and comfort they provide.”
Alexandra McInnes, Head of Julius Baer Guernsey, said: “A number of our team have been helped by the PPBF so the charity is an important one for us here at Julius Baer. The ‘Buy-A-Night’ campaign enables anyone to contribute to providing peace of mind to local families who need a safe and comfortable place to stay while their new-born is looked after at Southampton Hospital. It is a fantastic initiative that is so vital for our local community.”
The PPBF’s compassionate housing has provided thousands of nights of comfort and reassurance to local families facing one of the hardest journeys of their lives. When the flats aren’t occupied by families, they are available to other islanders who need Southampton-based accommodation while family members and loved ones are receiving care at Southampton Hospital.
These home-from-homes are only 100 steps away from the hospital entrance, meaning parents can be by their child’s bedside in a few minutes, at any time of day or night. The PPBF are safeguarding the flats’ future for the Bailiwick community with their Buy-A-Night campaign.
Businesses invited to get involved
As a charity with no government funding, corporate sponsorship means a great deal to the PPBF. Like Julius Baer, a business can support the PPBF’s compassionate housing by buying nights. They can purchase a week of nights at £420, a month at £1,860 or many more nights. Each company logo will be highlighted on the PPBF’s online ‘Corporate Calendar’ for their chosen flat and date range.
The charity is also looking into providing a live digital calendar in each of the flats for families to see who is supporting their night.
Buy-A-Night continues to grow
Individuals can also purchase a night to help a family from just £5 a month or £60 a year, to help support a family staying in either Aggie’s Burrow or Isaac’s Pad. Each name will be displayed on the date of their chosen flat’s Buy-A-Night calendar on the PPBF’s website. Each ‘star’ can be personalised by leaving a message or dedicating the donation to a loved one.
Jo Priaulx, Co-Founder of the PPBF, said: “We’re ever so grateful to Julius Baer Guernsey for supporting 90 nights for our ‘Buy-A-Night’ campaign. This will make a huge difference to local families going through a traumatic time and help the charity protect the flats’ future.”
