JTC Law has strengthened its senior leadership team, welcoming funds, corporate and regulatory specialist Sam Sturrock, as part of the firm’s ongoing growth strategy.
In his new position, Sam (pictured) will play a pivotal role in accelerating the evolution of JTC Law with a view to supporting clients with a modern, bespoke and technology-focused international legal services proposition.
Based in Jersey, Sam joins JTC Law with two decades’ experience of working with high profile institutional clients, asset managers, family offices and high-net-worth individuals, and with a deep understanding of the international regulatory and wider business landscape. In his previous role, he was head of the Jersey investment funds practice at another international law firm and is a qualified Jersey advocate in addition to having previously qualified as a solicitor in Scotland and England & Wales.
As well as having considerable technical legal knowledge, Sam is also immersed in the wider business community. Currently a member of the Jersey Funds Association’s Legal and Technical sub-committee, and a member of the Jersey Law Society’s Financial and Commercial sub-committee, Sam is also a key contributor to financial services working groups tasked with assisting the development of new laws and products in Jersey including LLCs, sustainable finance and the Companies Law.
In driving forward JTC Law’s growth strategy, Sam will work closely with the existing senior leadership team, including Leanne Wallser (Head of Investment Funds and Corporate), Jeremy Garrood (Head of Insolvency and Dispute Resolution) and David Dorgan (Head of Private Client and International Trusts).
Commenting on Sam’s appointment, Leanne Wallser said: “Sam is a vital addition to our senior leadership team and will be instrumental in driving our growth and international ambitions forward, whilst also adding considerable technical knowledge to support clients. A key part of our strategy is to nurture a technology-enabled approach to service delivery and a workplace culture that differentiates us from other firms in the international market. With that in mind, Sam will be highly focused on evolving and communicating our mission and identity, with the aim of positioning JTC Law as a stand-out firm that both clients enjoy instructing and that people love to work at.”
Sam added: “I’m delighted to be joining the impressive team at JTC Law, who have a clear and exciting vision to create a unique proposition in the international legal space. My aim is to help maintain their momentum as we continue to roll out our growth strategy in the months ahead. I’m hugely passionate about making the process of getting legal advice an enjoyable experience for clients, whilst also creating a working culture with a genuine, positive and purposeful energy. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide a first-class service to our clients in a way that is really tailored to them.”
Jeremy Garrood said: “The development of the law firm since 2020 has been remarkable. It has been tremendous to see the calibre of lawyers who are looking to be part of a genuinely fresh approach to legal services. These are exciting times for JTC Law, with further plans to grow our market leading team over the coming months.”
