The Jersey Employment Trust is looking for three Islanders who would like to participate in the Virtual London Marathon on Sunday 2nd October 2022.
Thousands of people across the UK take part in the virtual version of the event, which organisers set up when Covid forced the main run to be cancelled. Now you can have an official London Marathon place but you can run the 26 miles here in Jersey.
What makes the virtual marathon different from a normal marathon is that you can run, jog or walk, with friends or on your own, from home or away, in stages or all at once. This makes it much more accessible to more people.
All you have to do is to complete your 26.2 miles on the route of your choice, at any time from 00:00 to 23:59:59 BST on Sunday 2nd October.
Ideas for personalising the virtual experience include:
- Being dropped 26.2 miles from home and running back to a hero’s welcome.
- Completing each mile with a different running buddy, sharing the challenge with friends and family.
- Getting together with a group of friends to walk the 26.2 miles together.
- Creating a unique course that visits the homes of friends and family so they can set up outdoor drinks stations for a refuel and catch-up over an energy bar (or cake).
All runners in the virtual TCS London Marathon get an official running number and finisher’s medal and T-shirt. You must be 18 or over, and you must be willing to raise funds for the Jersey Employment Trust/Acorn Enterprises.
