Jersey War Tunnels marks one-year anniversary of new leadership

The Jersey War Tunnels, one of the island’s most iconic and historically significant tourist attractions, has entered an exciting new chapter.

After more than 60 years of ownership by Daisy Hill Real Estates Limited, the 29.5-acre site has been successfully sold to a new custodian committed to building upon its legacy. Following interest from several private buyers, the site was ultimately acquired by Trevellyan Operations Limited, headed by Lance Trevellyan, whose Jersey business portfolio also includes CCA Galleries International Limited and the Millbrook House Hotel project.

The new owners are committed to enhancing the world-class status of the Tunnels in terms of visitor engagement, educational outreach and historical preservation.

Commenting Mr Trevellyan said: “As a long-time patron and former trustee of Jersey Heritage, I have learned a great deal about Jersey’s many precious natural environments and manmade heritage structures that provide a window into the island’s unique history and celebrate the lived experiences of its inhabitants.

The journey through the sensitively curated Jersey War Tunnels demonstrates how Jersey folk faced and exercised different and difficult choices to ensure survival.

Sadly, as those with first-hand experience of living in Occupied Jersey become fewer and fewer, there is a heightened urgency to record the facts of their experiences endured for the benefit of present and future generations.  We value the opportunity to further develop the people’s stories told using the latest technologies to re-tell historical experiences in a modern, immersive way for contemporary audiences.

Our thanks go to the previous owners Daisy Hill Real Estates Ltd for their support in their transfer to us as new custodians and we wish them all the best for the future.”

This trasition marks an exciting new phase for Jersey War Tunnels, which has long been enjoyed by both islanders and visitors alike. The site, which boasts a vast collection of artefacts including a rare Enigma Machine and an original Kubelwagen, offers an unparalleled insight into islanders’ experiences during World War II.

Damian Warman (pictured), General Manager of Jersey War Tunnels, expressed his optimism for the future: “This sale represents a new and exciting chapter for Jersey War Tunnels. We are confident that Trevellyan Operations Limited will bring fresh perspectives and investment to ensure the site continues to thrive, offering a unique and immersive experience for our visitors.”
