SM2, a seabed exploration and mining company, has announced its sponsorship of the Jersey Sailing Team for the 2023 Island Games.
SM2 CEO, Richard Parkinson explained: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Jersey Sailing Team for the Island Games.
“We are passionate about supporting our local community, and we believe that the Jersey Sailing Team has a great chance of success. We are confident that they will represent Jersey with pride.”
SM2’s sponsorship of the Jersey Sailing Team is part of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR). SM2 is committed to investing in the local community, and it believes that supporting youth sports is a great way to do this, whilst helping to raise the profile of sailing in Jersey, and SM2’s passion to redevelop and restimulate the marine economy.
“We are thrilled to have the support of SM2,” said Jersey Sailing Team Manager and Athlete, James Tilley.
“Their sponsorship will help us to achieve our goals of competing at the highest level of island sport and challenge us to bring home medals for Jersey.”
The Jersey Sailing Team is a mix of experience and youth. James Tilley is the most experienced member, with a wealth of national and international sailing experience under his belt and was ranked #6 in the world in his youth. Ollie Boyle is the youngest member and a rising star in the sport. He has been attending multiple competitions in Guernsey, national events in the UK, and international training camps in preparation.
Dylan Griffiths, another experienced member, attended the Island Games in 2015, and Will Dengate, has sailing experience in the family and demonstrates potential having been selected in the ICLA 7 class.
James added: “We are confident that we can achieve our goals with the support of SM2. We are excited to compete in the Island Games, and we are determined to do our best for Jersey.”
