Jersey Post Group has announced that it has appointed Kevin Keen as its new Chair.
Kevin Keen will take-over from Alan Merry, who has served three terms as Chair of the Group, since 2015. Kevin is well known at the business, having previously been CEO.
Outgoing Chair, Alan Merry said: “It has been a privilege to have served as Chair of Jersey Post Group and, as my term comes to an end, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the journey. The business has changed beyond all recognition since I joined in 2015. From being a traditional mainly ‘letters’ business based in Jersey, now most of our time locally is focused on handling parcels. We own a vibrant logistics business in Woodside; have a maturing digital business in Vaiie; and operate internationally through our various businesses in the UK and the USA.
“It’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride – from the excitement of growth and international development until 2020, to having to respond to the impact of Covid and then, for the last couple of years, fighting for our economic survival during the cost of living crisis. I am very pleased to be handing the reins to Kevin Keen, who knows both the business and the Island well, and is passionate about the importance of the role the Group plays in serving the people of Jersey.”
Kevin will join the Board later this month. He said: “I am very proud that following a thorough recruitment process, supervised by the Jersey Appointments Commission, I have been selected to follow Alan as Chair of Jersey Post Group. Having been CEO from June 2011 until July 2014 I know just how special and important the company and its people are to Jersey and I can’t wait to play my part in its future.”
Kevin has also held senior positions at Le Riche Group, Jersey Dairy, and Jersey Water. In the charity sector, he’s worked with the JSPCA and Durrell, as well as been the Chair of the Association of Jersey Charities. He was awarded an OBE for services to the local business and charity community earlier this year.
Mark Siviter, CEO of Jersey Post Group said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Alan on behalf of the Group for serving three terms as our Chair. His support and council have been invaluable to me since I joined two years ago. He leaves having been instrumental in stabilising our business, whilst maintaining high levels of service. I wish him all the best for the future.
“I also want to congratulate Kevin on his appointment and welcome him back. His understanding of the business will help us hugely as we build our future direction.”
