Jersey Post Chief Executive Officer, Tim Brown, collected the Industry Leadership Award at last night’s World Post and Parcel award ceremony in Dubai.
An outstanding achievement from the executive that has led the transformation of Jersey Post from island postal authority to an end-to-end global logistics provider with operations on four continents.
The Industry Leadership Award recognises the exemplary leadership of an individual in advancing the mail, parcels or express industry. This coveted award has been won by some of the most prestigious names in the global delivery industry. Tim has over 30 years of experience in the post, parcel and distribution industry. He has worked in senior positions in Royal Mail and DHL Express, was CEO of Postcomm, provided advice to the government and was vice-chair of the European Regulators Group for Post.
Tim joined Jersey Post in 2014 and embarked on an ambitious strategy to address long-term terminal decline in domestic mail volumes and to exploit opportunities outside of the finite local market. Part of this strategy included investment in parcel operations in Jersey, as well as building the Jersey Post Group’s global presence through strategic partnerships and acquisitions. The organisation now operates a worldwide partnership network that secures access to higher-margin business and provides cross-border solutions to both local and international customers.
Over the last seven years, Tim has successfully re-focused the organisation and laid the foundations for a business that will be better equipped to meet the challenges that lie ahead.
“Naturally I am over the moon to have won the Industry Leadership Award, I’m really quite humbled,” commented Tim. “Whilst I am delighted that my work has been recognised, it’s really important to understand that I wouldn’t have won this award if it wasn’t for the hard work, dedication and commitment from everyone within the Group that has supported our growth strategy and helped to implement change at every level, especially in light of the challenges posed by the last two years.”
At the awards, Jersey Post also won the ‘Philatelic Campaign of the Year for its innovative ‘Lockdown birds’ stamp issue. The winning stamps, which feature eight colourful ‘lockdown birds’, are the result of a creative collaboration between Jersey Post and Berni Martin, a Jersey resident who set herself a project to paint a bird every day during Jersey’s first Covid-19 lockdown, each bird a reflection of her mood on that particular day.
Brought to life by Jersey Post’s philatelic team, the stamps generated a powerful response, and the story was picked up internationally, with articles appearing in Germany, Italy, China and the US.
“We are extremely honoured to receive this award,” commented David McGrath, Group Marketing Director at Jersey Post. “Every year, Jersey Post endeavours to deliver a quality and innovative stamp programme; we’re extremely proud of the work that we do and we’re thrilled to be recognised at the World Post and Parcel Awards. For us, the ‘Flockdown’ stamps are a perfect example of the power of philately to connect people. The designs resonated with people around the world, creating a sense of community through our shared experience of the
pandemic.”
