Jersey has been crowned ‘Best international finance centre’ at the 8th Annual WealthBriefing MENA Awards for the fifth year in a row.
Designed to showcase best of breed providers in the private banking, wealth management and trusted advisor communities, the Awards recognise companies, teams and individuals that have demonstrated innovation and excellence in serving the Middle East and North Africa market.
Winners of the awards are decided by a panel of expert judges drawn from private banks, trusted advisors and consultants from across the private wealth sector, with Jersey being recognised for its top-class performance and commitment to innovation within the MENA region during 2020.
Joe Moynihan, Chief Executive Officer, Jersey Finance, accepted the award at a gala ceremony, which was held on Wednesday 10th November at the Sofitel Dubai Downtown.
Commenting on the achievement he said: “It’s an honour for Jersey to be recognised as the leading IFC serving the needs of MENA investors for the fifth year running, particularly during our industry’s 60th anniversary year. Over those years we have worked hard to nurture strong connections with the region, including through the establishment of an office in the DIFC, and we’re proud that our Island’s stability, high regulatory standards, and compelling commercial environment have cemented that relationship. We continue to focus on evolving our proposition for the region.”
2021 marks 15 years since Jersey signed its first bilateral agreement with the UAE and ten years since Jersey Finance established its first office in the country.
ClearView Financial Media’s CEO, and Publisher of WealthBriefing, Stephen Harris, was first to extend his congratulations to all the winners. He said: “The organisations and individuals who triumphed in these awards are all worthy winners, and I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to the winners and to those who have put so much work into each winning submission.
“These awards were independently and expertly judged solely on the basis of entrants’ submissions and their response to a number of specific questions, which were answered by focusing on the client experience rather than purely quantitative performance metrics. That is a unique, and I believe, compelling feature. These awards recognise the very best operators in MENA wealth management, with ‘independence’, ‘integrity’ and ‘genuine insight’ the watchwords of the judging process – such that the awards truly reflect excellence in MENA wealth management.”
