Jersey has been crowned ‘International Financial Centre (IFC) of the Year’ for the ninth time in a row at the annual Citywealth IFC Awards 2021.
Jersey has won the title nine times, leading the way ahead of other shortlisted jurisdictions such as Dubai IFC, Abu Dhabi Global Market, Bermuda, Guernsey, Dakota, Wyoming, Monaco and the Isle of Man.
The awards took place virtually on Tuesday 23 February, with attendees taking up ‘virtual tables’ with their peers.
Organised by events and publishing group Citywealth, the awards were established ten years ago to highlight the expertise and service excellence of advisors and managers in the private wealth sector in major IFCs. They are judged by an international panel of highly respected practitioners from all sectors, with winners being selected based on their excellence, achievement, innovation, expertise and service.
Joe Moynihan, CEO of Jersey Finance, commented: “It is fantastic that Jersey has been recognised once again as a leading IFC. It is particularly reassuring that even during times of uncertainty, Jersey still holds on to its reputation for being well-regulated, professional and adaptable.
“It is clear that by working with key stakeholders and experts in the finance industry, and maintaining positive international relations, we have been able to evolve to fit the ever-changing landscape. We will continue to provide a world-class service as Jersey looks to the future, and I would like to thank the judging panel and our business-partners for ensuring our work is recognised as such.”
Karen Jones, Editor, Citywealth, also said: “IFC corporates, their management and staff demonstrate year after year a sophisticated approach to sustainability for their human capital and clients. 2021 brought this into focus and the judges commend all those shortlisted and our winners for excellence of operation and standards during an unprecedented time in history.”
