Jersey Finance has announced a number of further high-calibre expert speakers, specialising in topics ranging from environmental crime and ethics to AI and tech innovation, to its line-up for its forthcoming Sustainable Finance Summit.
The week-long Summit, starting on 10th March, will feature three key events held at the Freedom Centre in Jersey under the umbrella title ‘The Big Transition – What’s Next?’, examining the relationship between nature, climate and the great wealth transfer, against the backdrop of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Last month, Jersey Finance announced Mike Berners-Lee, global expert on sustainability and climate change and author of ‘There is no Planet B’, as a keynote speaker for the opening event of the Summit. Now also confirmed as joining the line-up of expert speakers for the week are:
- Dame Susan Rice (pictured), a Chartered Banker, who chairs the Financial Services Culture Board, was founding chair of the Chartered Banker: Professional Standards Board and has helped develop approaches to social finance in the US and UK
- Olivia Dakeyne, Associate Director of Insight at Themis, an anti-financial crime provider, where she leads financial and environmental crime research projects for the private and public sector
- Stephen Nolan, Managing Director of the UNDP Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) initiative, a global network of 44 financial centres collaborating to achieve the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement
- Andrea Castaño de la Torre, Gender Specialist in Inclusive Economics and Finance, and Global Coordinator of the Gender Equality Seal for the Private Sector
- Helen Avery, Director of Nature Programmes, Green Finance Institute, who leads the Institute’s work on supporting the mobilisation of private sector finance into nature restoration, and the transition to an economy that values and invests in the natural environment.
- Mark Halle, Senior Advisor, UNDP International Network of Financial Centres for Sustainability and who founded the International Institute for Sustainable Development – Europe in 1998
- Andrew W. Mitchell, Founder and CEO, Equilibrium Futures, which provides strategic advice to the finance sector on environmental risks and opportunities.

Between them, these new guest speakers will take part in sessions during the week that will focus on ‘The Role of Innovation in the Transition’ and ‘The Next Steps for Sustainable Finance in Jersey’. The Summit will also feature a number of briefings for business leaders and young professionals, a Junior Art Exhibition, the Sustainable Finance Awards, a volunteering initiative and remote events in London and South Africa.
