Jersey Electricity assists Northern Ireland Power Restoration following Storm Éowyn
Share on LinkedInTwitterFacebookEmail

Jersey Electricity has dispatched a team to Northern Ireland to assist with power restoration efforts after Storm Éowyn left 650,000 households without  electricity.

With temperatures dropping and conditions worsening, the team of three experienced overhead linesmen and two vehicles departed late on Saturday night to join the mission to bring relief to those affected. They were supplemented by other JE engineers flying into Northern Ireland on Monday morning.

The devastating storm caused widespread damage to infrastructure, leaving many without power during one of the coldest periods of the year. By joining the restoration efforts, Jersey Electricity hopes to make an important contribution to help restore power as quickly as possible.

Chris Ambler, Chief Executive of Jersey Electricity, expressed his pride in the team’s efforts and reinforced the importance of mutual support within the power sector: “Our thoughts are with all those affected by Storm Éowyn. While Jersey Electricity is a relatively small organisation in our sector, we believe that every contribution counts in times of crisis.

“It’s a privilege to be able to give back and support our sector colleagues and communities in the UK, particularly after the invaluable help we received during Storm Ciarán. I want to thank our team for their commitment and wish them a safe and successful mission in Northern Ireland.”
