Jersey Cheshire Home has announced that their CEO has scooped a prestigious IoD award.
Donna Abel (pictured) was announced winner of the Third Sector Director of the Year award sponsored by Lloyds Bank International at a sell-out black tie dinner at the Royal Yacht last night.
The twelfth IoD awards celebrated the achievements and excellence of individual leaders and also recognised those who rose to the challenge of the pandemic.
Delighted to have won this coveted industry award Donna Abel, CEO Jersey Cheshire Home said: “I am absolutely shocked, delighted and very humbled to have won in such a great category. It takes an incredible amount of teamwork, hard work, delivery, and passion to get to a place where we are being recognised by industry leaders. It is so rewarding to receive such great external recognition for what we are doing at Jersey Cheshire Home.
“As one of many great island charities this public recognition will help to raise our external profile and show islanders that we are here to support them and when they need us.
“I am extremely proud and feel privileged to be leading a wonderful team of selfless individuals to really care and work tirelessly with compassion and courage everyday 365 days a year to fulfil our mission of enhancing lives of disabled Islanders.”
Jersey Cheshire Home is the only residential facility on the island caring solely for adults with disabilities.
Mrs Abel added: “We are very proud of the work we do and how we continue to support Islanders who have a disability following an accident, stroke or incurable disease. Jersey Cheshire Home has been supporting some of the most vulnerable Islanders for almost 40 years and it is simply wonderful that we are emerging from the shadows and being recognised for the amazing work we joyfully do when caring for disabled islanders. This is a real badge of honour for me, thank you.”
