The Jersey Chamber of Commerce has appointed Lee Madden to serve for the next three years as its President.
He takes over from Adam Budworth whose term finished at the business organisation’s AGM.
Lee (pictured) who had been Chamber’s Co-Vice President with Daphne East, is the Chief Executive of GR8 Recruitment.
Adam Budworth, outgoing President of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce, said: “It has been an honour to have served in this role, especially as Chamber is in such good health with positive engagement with our members, the community and government. These past twelve months have been particularly busy and I am delighted that we are able to announce that Chamber will be moving back to the building where it all began in 1768. I’ve hugely enjoyed my time as President, working with a fantastic team, and I know that Lee will similarly enjoy the ride.”

Adam relinquished the role at the Chamber AGM which immediately followed a sell-out lunch featuring the Chief Ministers of Jersey and Guernsey with a focus on Channel Islands co-opperation. During the lunch, members were informed that 19, Royal Square, the building where the first meeting of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce took place in 1768, had been bought, positioning Chamber once again in the Royal Square. The outgoing President also praised the Chamber CEO for his work in delivering the property purchase for the future of Chamber. The move will further strengthen Chamber’s position at the heart of Jersey’s commercial and political life.
Murray Norton, Chief Executive of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce who this week entered his eighth year as CEO, added: “Adam and Daphne have been a huge support to the team at Chamber, helping us move forward as Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive representative body for business in Jersey. We are very excited that Lee has taken on the role and will be ably supported by former President, Eliot Lincoln, who will be Vice-President for the next twelve months, in an historic week where we have returned to our spiritual home in the Royal Square.”

Lee Madden, President of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce, commented: “I am humbled to be following in the footsteps of previous Presidents to lead our members for the next three years. As we heard from the Chief Ministers of Jersey and Guernsey, working together is what makes us stronger and collaboration is vital if we are to meet the challenges of global and local events. We will forge stronger links with our fellow islanders in Guernsey and the Isle of Man so that we can present a united voice when working with the UK and other countries. More importantly, we should be working together to enable our business communities to thrive.”
