Tim Ringsdore, Chief Executive of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority has taken over as Chair of the Small Nations Regulators’ Forum in 2023.
The Small Nations Regulators’ Forum (SNRF) was founded by the International Institute of Communications (IIC) to enable small jurisdictions to share knowledge of opportunities and constraints in media and communications regulation in countries with small populations and or economies.
The SNRF now forms part of the International Regulators’ Forum each year as part of the Communications Policy and Regulation Week and is a vital part of ensuring that the IIC provides a platform for the widest possible contribution from a representative group of jurisdictions.
IIC Director General, Lynn Robinson (pictured with Tim Ringsdore) said: “I am delighted to welcome incoming Chair, Tim Ringsdore, who will be picking up the baton from the outgoing SNRF Chair, Dr Allyson Leacock, Chair, Barbados Broadcasting Commission. Tim’s extensive knowledge and expertise will ensure the IIC’s SNRF will continue to go from strength to strength.”
Commenting on his appointment, Tim Ringsdore said: “It is a pleasure and an honour to be taking up this role for such a prestigious and important Forum within the wider media and communications community. It is vitally important that Regulators in smaller jurisdictions have a platform in which to discuss openly the problems we all face in ensuring competition and regulatory matters are consistently managed around the world, and to share best practice and ideas on how to achieve the highest standards possible.
“From a local point of view, it is also crucial that we learn from our peers to help us provide a service for Jersey consumers to ensure the receive best value, choice and access to quality services.”
Tim Ringsdore was appointed CEO of the JCRA in February 2021, having previously fulfilled the role in an interim capacity from June 2020, when the JCRA split from the Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities, of which he was Director from March 2018.
He is highly experienced having worked in Regulation, Telecoms and Broadcast Television across the Channel Islands, London, and the British Virgin Islands, with a strong track record of success at Board level
