Jacksons is helping to launch a new fixture on the cycling calendar this summer which will help islanders affected by cancer.
The local motor dealership is sponsoring the inaugural Mac100, a 100k cycling challenge which will see islanders pedalling their way around the island on Sunday 22nd August, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey.
Cyclists can use whatever bike they like, as long as it’s not a fixed wheel, track bike or monocycle and there’s a prize on offer for the biggest fundraiser.
Commenting on the new challenge, Andrew Searle, General Manager at Jacksons said, “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Mac100 and to be supporting this fantastic local charity which provides such vital support and wellbeing services for those with cancer, their family and friends.
“This promises to be an exciting and fun new challenge on the cycling calendar, and we encourage everyone taking part to post their achievements on Strava using the #Mac100.”
Explaining how the Mac100 will benefit the charity, Kevin Always, Operations Manager at Macmillan Jersey said, “The pandemic has affected all fundraising efforts in the past 12-18 months and it is wonderful to see people back having fun responsibly, and raising money for charity.
We are grateful to everyone who takes part and to Jacksons for sponsoring this fun new event. All money raised will enable our cancer support team to provide much-needed services at The Oasis, Macmillan Jersey’s cancer support and wellbeing centre to people affected by cancer – and those supporting them. Every penny raised in Jersey stays in Jersey.”
The start time for the Mac100 is 7.30am-9.30am at St Clement’s Parish Hall and you can sign up to the challenge via Race Nation here.
