It’s ‘Green for go’ for direct flights to Majorca this summer

Following announcements by both the Government of Jersey and the Majorcan authorities this week, CI Travel Group have confirmed to Channel Eye that direct flights from Jersey to Majorca will commence on Saturday 5th June.

Jersey’s Government have announced their international classifications under the ‘Safer Travel Policy’ and Majorca has been given a ‘Green Light’ rating, meaning that returning islanders will only be required to isolate until receipt of their first negative test result*. Earlier this week, Majorcan authorities also confirmed that UK citizens would not have to provide a negative PCR test prior to travel to the island.

Clients travelling from Jersey will not be required to self-isolate on arrival in Majorca as long as they are not showing symptoms of coronavirus. They will need to complete a health form prior to arrival and undergo a temperature check and visual health assessment at Palma Airport. Whilst in Majorca, social distancing measures and other safety precautions will need to be observed, but these are similar to those currently in place in Jersey.

“We are so happy to be able to make this announcement”, said Robert Mackenzie, Managing Director of FlyDirect operating company, CI Travel Group. “Many islanders have been waiting, along with ourselves, for the classification of international countries to be announced. Now that Majorca has been given ‘Green’ status, we are able to start our direct flight programme to the island.

“The wellbeing of our clients is paramount and we are now confident to operate knowing that the Majorcan government, accommodation providers and the airline all have the necessary precautions in place to ensure everyone can holiday safely.

“It has been a challenging 15 months for the travel industry and I would like to thank everyone who has supported FlyDirect during this time.  Advance sales for our flights and holidays to Spain clearly show that many islanders are keen to get away this summer and all of us at CI Travel Group look forward to taking them on holiday soon.”

The FlyDirect programme will run every Saturday from 5th June to the 25th September 2021 to the Spanish Island of Majorca and from 5th October the programme will switch to Spain’s Costa del Sol with direct flights to Malaga. Clients will fly aboard a British Airways Embraer 190 jet aircraft for the two-hour flight.

*No isolation is required if a Covid Status Certificate can be provided showing evidence of having received both
vaccinations.
