Guernsey’s Health and Social Care HSC is reminding islanders under the age of 65 to have a flu vaccination this winter.
This year HSC approved funding to cover the cost of the vaccination and £7 towards the cost of clinical administration for those aged between 50 and 64.
If you are in this age group cohort and have not had the flu vaccination yet this winter please contact your doctor’s surgery in order to make an appointment.
This year it is more important than ever that islanders protect themselves from seasonal flu. The vaccine protects both individuals and the wider community by limiting the spread of the flu virus.
As the roll out for the COVID-19 vaccination programme begins, islanders who are eligible for the new vaccine are reminded that there has to be a period of 7 days between receiving the flu vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine. Therefore, anyone who intends to take the flu vaccine should arrange to do so sooner rather than later.
