Dozens of local runners took to the island’s road this Summer for the Headway Jacksons virtual 10k race and raised £1,000 for islanders affected by a brain injury and their carers.
There were some great prizes up for grabs for those going the distance and raising the most money, including a Gold Valet Package from Jacksons worth £500 and a 10-week online personal training programme from Danny Buckross of DB Lifestyle.
Commenting on the event, Andrew Searle, General Manager at Jacksons said: “We were obviously disappointed that we couldn’t stage the race in the same way as last year, but it was great to see so many signing up to support Headway.
“Covid-19 has had a big impact on all of us, but particularly our local charities and the Jacksons team were determined to help raise some essential funds for this fantastic cause. Thanks to all those who took part and for being Headway Heroes!”
Bryce Alford, Headway Jersey’s Fundraising and Events Manager said: “With all our events from March having to be cancelled, both on island and at the major international events due to the virus, the continued support from Jacksons has proved invaluable towards our fundraising.
“Our fundraising has been hit by £100,000 which has devastated the charity and may mean cuts to our life changing services. We look forward to being able to work with the great team at Jacksons on future fundraising events”.
Headway Jersey has over 150 survivors of brain injury registered with them as members and up to 70 who access their services on a weekly basis.
