To mark International Women’s Day 2021, Jersey Women’s Refuge invite the Jersey community to nominate local women for the Inspiring Women of Jersey Award 2021.

To acknowledge International Women’s Day today, Monday 8th March 2021, Jersey Women’s Refuge, in partnership with Soroptimist International Jersey invite Islanders to nominate an outstanding woman to be put forward for ‘The 2021 Jersey Women’s Refuge Inspirational Woman Award.’

“We are seeking nominations for women in Jersey who have inspired others through their self-less achievements, commitment and personality to help others for the greater good,” explained Marine Oliviera, Jersey Women’s Refuge. “Whilst we have had to postpone our annual IWD breakfast event we are able to acknowledge this very special day by launching, ‘The 2021 Inspirational Woman of the Year Award,’ in partnership with Soroptimist International Jersey, who originally helped launch the Jersey Women’s Refuge in 1988”.

Winners will be announced at our International Women’s Day which will take place later in the year. Anyone in Jersey can nominate a candidate they feel deserves recognition for their endeavours, passion to help or inspire others.

Someone who:

  • has made a selfless contribution
  • has made a significant difference to an individual or group
  • has succeeded against the odds
  • Is an inspiration to others
  • comes from any walk of life
  • who has shown self-sacrifice, unwavering dedication and generosity of spirit
  • has led others to achieve greatness in their own right
  • a positive role model for generations to follow

As in previous years, nominations will be reviewed by the judging panel made up of members of Jersey businesses who support Jersey Women’s Refuge, Inspirational Woman of the Year 2020 winner, Cheryle Raphael, Catherine Kirby, President, Soroptimist International Jersey and members of the Jersey Women’s Refuge committee.

“It was a total surprise to be awarded the Jersey Women’s Refuge, in partnership with Soroptimist International Jersey’s Inspirational Woman of the Year award last year,” explained Cheryle Raphael. “There are so many exceptional selfless women in Jersey and I was humbled to win and honoured to be able to be invited to join the judging panel this year”.

To nominate your Inspiring Woman of the Year please click here and fill out a nomination form online completing all of the sections with as much information as possible or download a form and post to PO Box 708, St Helier, JE4 0PW marked ‘2021 Inspirational Woman of the Year Nomination’.
