Alderney-based radio station Quay-FM 107.1 has received a significant four figure donation from an American businessman.
Stephen Deerhake, an internet entrepreneur who lives in New Jersey, visited the Islands and QUAY-FM’s studio a couple of years ago.
Mr Deerhake said: “Quay-FM, as Ofcom-licenced community radio station for the Channel Islands is an important service to the entire community.
“It’s proved its worth in emergency planning and I’m extremely happy to support it in its goal to replace aging hardware”
Tim Butler, station manager said: “We are very grateful to Mr Deerhake for his most generous donation, which came rather out of the blue”.
Quay-FM was set up by former commercial radio executive Colin Mason and BBC comedy producer Johnnie Fielder. It came on the air on the air 24 years ago in the summer of 2000 and has been broadcasting 24/7 under a Community Radio Licence since 2014. It is entirely not for profit.
