Jersey businesses are being encouraged to check whether they can apply for funding and get ready for the launch of the Better Business Support Package (BBSP) later this month.
The scheme, part of the Government of Jersey’s Common Strategic Policy, is designed to help employers in all sectors improve productivity, invest in training and develop new opportunities in the visitor economy as they transition towards the living wage.
An Eligibility Checker is available to use now and should tell businesses whether they qualify for a grant. A series of briefings and workshops are being held to help them prepare.
Up to £5.3 million will be available from the BBSP, which will be administered by Jersey Business. It’s urging businesses to review the eligibility criteria to check what they could apply for, look at whether there are skills that could future proof their business, or if there are digital solutions that might remove some of the day-to-day repetitive processes.
Paul Murphy (pictured), CEO of Jersey Business, said: “The Better Business Support Package will provide matched investment across all sectors in our economy. It’s not just the visitor economy. There are grants to boost productivity, skills and apprenticeships. It is an exciting package that should kick start investment, helping businesses to grow and be more profitable.
“Productivity is key to sustaining our economy and this scheme will benefit those that supply services and products as qualifying businesses look to find partners to help them grow. We need the suppliers of digital and other solutions to be fired up and ready to offer packages that will support growth and greater productivity.”
