The Institute of Directors (IoD) in Guernsey has made six appointments to its committee, increasing the group’s diversity of experience, skills, backgrounds and industries.
The committee members are also known as IoD Ambassadors, embody the ethos of the IoD by connecting, supporting and offering guidance and expertise to members. The IoD Ambassadors share their expertise in business and passion for a better business world and society at large – whether through good corporate governance, providing opportunities for networking or mentorship locally or simply being the ears and eyes on a member’s new venture.
The appointments include Mat Desforges, Business Strategy Lead at Guernsey Electricity and Business Consultant, Charlotte Dunsterville, Managing Partner at UN1TY, Andrew Essa, Director and Co-Head of Management Consulting at BDO Jersey and C5 Alliance, Katy Hodgetts, experienced independent Non-Executive Director, Jo Huxtable, Tax Director at Deloitte, and Matt Polli, Managing Director at RW Randall.

Jo Huxtable joins as Deputy Chair, sharing that role with Sally Rochester. Jo is a Tax Partner at Deloitte with a broad range of experience spanning more than 30 years. She is a former President of the GSCCA and previously Chair of the association’s tax sub-committee; Jo is a founder of the Guernsey Green Forum and its current Chair.
Mat Desforges is Business Strategy Lead at Guernsey Electricity and has other consultancy roles focused on strategy, sustainability, and policy. He has more than three decades of experience in the private sector, government, regulation and acting as a business consultant. Mat is a chartered accountant, holds the IOD Diploma in Company Direction and is a board member on Guernsey Mind.
Charlotte Dunsterville has experience in international businesses, holds a Diploma in Management Studies and currently advises organisations on strategy, people led transformation and customer experience.
Andrew Essa has more than 20 years of experience in strategy, digital and technology consulting, business transformation and technology start-ups. Andrew is also a qualified solicitor and barrister and holds the IoD Certificate in Company Direction.
Katy Hodgetts has completed a number of IoD qualifications and became a Chartered Director in 2023. She is an experienced independent Non-Executive Director and has held senior investor relations and strategic business development roles over 16 years in the investment and fund sector industries.
Matt Polli, who holds the IoD Diploma in Company Direction, has been Managing Director of one of Guernsey’s largest hospitality businesses since 2020 and has a broad range of commercial knowledge and experience.
These appointments were made following an extensive formal recruitment process focused on further broadening the skills and experience of the existing committee.
