As COVID-19 continues to batter many charities fundraising efforts, Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Limited is proud to further their support of Jersey Mencap with a £5000 donation.
Brendan Stewart, CEO of Investec said: “Last year our entire team chose to support Jersey Mencap with the volunteering partnership. We are now proud to also offer this donation to ensure they can continue providing their important services while we all face the challenges of COVID-19”.
In 2019, the Investec team forged a new relationship with Jersey Mencap as they began a three-year volunteering partnership. For two days a year, each member of the Investec team exchanges their computers for wellies, gloves and art supplies as they volunteer and help with the charity’s array of projects.
Jersey Mencap has a busy programme of activities to offer choice, inclusion and opportunity to adults with a learning disability. The charity has now adapted these programmes to ensure the safety of all involved during COVID-19. However, cancelled fundraising events in the Spring has impacted their hopes for the year.
Alex Wiles of Jersey Mencap said: “We are very proud of the CSR partnership with Investec. Getting to know the team has been a great way to raise awareness of learning disability and our members have enjoyed welcoming them to our projects. What’s more, this financial support has helped to fund our much-needed activities for adults with a learning disability. With our buzzing social club, art project and horticultural sessions to fund, this really does make a difference”.
Investec’s donation will cover the costs for Jersey Mencap to run ten Summer Alfresco Art sessions, twenty Pond Project sessions and three supported Social Club sessions, as well as provide the needed supplies and resources for these projects and services.
