Ports of Jersey Board of Directors has appointed Alan Merry to the role of Interim Group CEO for the company following the recent departure of Doug Bannister.
Mr Merry, who is currently the company’s Strategic & Development Director and has worked with Ports of Jersey since 2012, will step into the role until Mr Bannister’s successor has been appointed.
Commenting on his interim appointment, he said: “It is a great shame for both Ports of Jersey and the island that Doug is moving on but we all understand why he has made the decision to return to the UK. However, the business is well positioned to continue to grow and develop and I am looking forward to taking on this exciting leadership role and to working with the team over the next few months.”
Having initially joined the organisation to focus on preparing it for incorporation, Mr Merry has for the past three years taken on the role of Strategy & Development Director, overseeing significant changes in the passenger terminals and the IT infrastructure. He is also responsible for the company’s business improvement programme.
