Latest figures show inter-island air travel between Guernsey and Jersey fell by 11% in January, compared to the same month last year.
But, looking more broadly, air passenger numbers in and out of Jersey Airport were up by nearly 2,000 in the first month of 2018. January saw a total of 86,956 air passengers, compared to 85,063 in 2017 and 83,091 in 2016.
The start of the year has reported increases in the London market on 2017 as well as rises in passenger numbers for Scotland, the midlands and the south.
British Airways held the largest market share of 31% in January 2018, closely followed by easyJet with 29% and Flybe at 20%.
Sea passengers for the month of January 2018 were down by just over 2,600 passengers compared to the same period in 2017. A total of 8,860 sea passengers travelled through Jersey’s ports in January 2018 compared to 11,489 in 2017 and 11,602 in 2016. The number of arrival ship movements was also down slightly from 143 in January 2017 to 134 in January 2018. Condor Ferries currently holds the largest market share.
