The Institute of Directors Guernsey will welcome Tristan Claridge from the Institute of Social Capital to the island this June.
Mr Claridge (pictured) will be conducting research to measure Guernsey’s social capital and its impact on the island’s economic, business and community wellbeing.
The global-first project will evaluate the current social capital in Guernsey through bespoke research involving data collected from group discussions, key-informant interviews, informal meetings and observations. The findings will be represented at this year’s IoD Convention, titled ‘Social Capital: The Key to Economic Growth and Social Wellbeing in Guernsey’, which will be held on 3rd October.
Glen Tonks, IoD Chair said: ‘Mr Claridge is a global leader in social capital, known for his innovative research and practical applications of social capital concepts across various sectors. His visit to Guernsey marks a significant event for the island, as it becomes the focal point of this groundbreaking research project.
“We look forward to connecting a diverse cohort of islanders from business, the third sector, sport, the arts and politics with Tristan as he conducts his research during his visit to the island.
“This study is unique, and we hope it will show us how we can harness this type of capital for the greater good and long-term sustainable growth of the island.’
The convention will delve into how social capital empowers businesses to collaborate, build strong networks, and drive innovation. It will also explore how robust social networks foster business resilience, adaptability, and societal change through increased political engagement.
