Ten local students who are enrolled on the Guernsey Institute of Directors’ student-focused Leader’s initiative will be invited to attend the IoD Convention as ‘Leaders of Tomorrow.’
They will also attend an exclusive lunch with Tristan Claridge, Director of the Institute for Social Capital, who will be speaking at the Institute of Directors (IoD) Convention.
The Leaders of Tomorrow scheme, which is sponsored by the Ana Leaf Foundation, aims to develop young business talent on the island, and to introduce Guernsey’s Leaders of Tomorrow to thought leaders and influential career role models from the Bailiwick and beyond. This will in turn create an alumni network of students who have the potential to be Guernsey’s future leaders.
The students, representing Guernsey’s sixth form cohort, will meet Tristan Claridge from the Institute for Social Capital at the prestigious lunch. The Institute for Social Capital is an independent research, consulting, and training organisation, focused on progressing the theoretical understanding of the concept of social capital and its implications. The lunch will allow the students to discuss how they think people’s social wellbeing in Guernsey could be enhanced.
The ten students will also be invited to attend the IoD Future Leaders Summit in November where they will meet with other inspiring leaders from The Bailiwick and further afield.
Hayley de Putron, a Trustee of the Ana Leaf Foundation, said: “Our aim is to grant students with opportunities that will help them to shine, and be the best they can be. We are extremely pleased that this programme has provided the young people of Guernsey with the chance to engage with leaders in the business industry, in the hope that this will inspire them to become our future leaders of tomorrow.”
Karen Power, a committee member of the Institute of Directors, said: “The Guernsey IoD are delighted to work with the Ana Leaf Foundation again this year, supporting the Leaders of Tomorrow scheme. The lunch will provide an intimate opportunity for the students to hear first-hand about the wonderful research that Tristan has performed and for them to provide their feedback on such an important topic as Social Capital.”
