Four rising stars in Ogier’s Private Wealth and Dispute Resolution teams have been named in eprivateclient’s prestigious Top 35 under 35 in the Channel Islands list.
James Angus, Matthew Davies, Kellie Sherwill and George Yates have all been named.
The Channel Islands Top 35 Under 35 aims to identify, recognise, introduce and promote the rising stars of the private client profession. Factors considered during the judging process – undertaken by senior members of PAM Insight’s editorial team – include an individual’s achievements over the past 12 months and the number of nominations they received.
- Matthew Davies (pictured) is an associate in Ogier’s Dispute Resolution team in Jersey. He has a broad range of experience, including contentious trust matters, regulatory matters, insolvencies and commercial and financial disputes. One nominator said of Matthew: “He has demonstrated enormous potential in the way he has acted on contentious private wealth matters, and will no doubt continue to impress as he gets more experience”. Matthew was named an IFC Associate of the Year in the Citywealth Future Leaders Awards 2020.
- James Angus is an experienced commercial disputes lawyer, specialising in contentious cross-border insolvency and restructuring. This is the third consecutive year he has been named in the rankings. One nominator said that James “is an exceptional advocate, and a leading individual within the Jersey Dispute Resolution team. He advises, and represents in court, many of the leading trust companies in Jersey and is considered a trusted adviser.”
- Kellie Sherwill is an associate in the Ogier’s Dispute Resolution team in Guernsey. She provides advice on all aspects of corporate and commercial dispute resolution, including insolvency, trust and employment issues. Kellie’s experience also includes banking and finance, property, regulatory and company matters. Prior to joining Ogier in 2018, Kellie gained experience within the dispute resolution department of a large offshore law firm in Guernsey before joining another law firm in Guernsey where she worked within the corporate commercial and financial services team for over four years.
- George Yates specialises in non-contentious trust and fiduciary law and advises on a wide range of private client issues, including cross-border estate, succession and trust planning for a variety of professional trustees, family offices and HNW individuals. Before joining Ogier in 2020, George spent over four years in London practising as a solicitor at a leading onshore firm, where he specialised in advising UK and non-UK domiciled individuals on their global asset structuring and UK tax and trust planning.
James Campbell, global head of Private Wealth at Ogier, said: “I’m delighted to see recognition for so many of the rising stars in Ogier’s Trusts Advisory Group across both our contentious and non-contentious private wealth offering. James, Matthew, Kellie and George continue to develop very strong reputations in the industry, and their inclusion in the eprivateclient Top 35 under 35 in the Channel Islands is thoroughly well-deserved.”
