HSBC unveils new flagship Guernsey branch but closes one other

HSBC in Guernsey has unveiled its new-look flagship branch in St Peter Port while closing down its presence in the Vale.

It’s part of the bank’s programme of investment in its branch network in the island.

The refurbished High Street branch, which now also incorporates a dedicated Premier Centre in the same building, was opened by Peter Faulhaber, Head of Distribution in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, as well as Dean Blackburn, Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, and Head of HSBC Expat.

The bank’s Premier Centre was previously in a different building over the road.

The three-month refurbishment is one of a number of changes to come out of a review of HSBC’s network in Guernsey, which were originally announced last October.

It means the Landes du Marche branch closes, but there is major investment in its offices in St Peter Port, and a confirmation that it intends to retain a presence in both Alderney and Sark.

Peter Faulhaber said: “Our new-look branch in St Peter Port represents a really positive start to the year for HSBC in Guernsey and underlines our commitment to the island. Bringing the Premier Centre into our main branch gives our customers a much better experience as we look to embark on a growth strategy across the Channel Islands.”
