HSBC has appointed Tania Sobey as Country Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management in Jersey, to oversee the Bank’s branch network and lead its retail, Premier, wealth and mortgage teams in Jersey.
In her new role, Tania will draw on her experience of more than 30 years in the financial services industry to ensure that local customers receive the best service and have access to a tailored range of banking, savings and lending solutions.
Tania takes on the role having previously held the position of Head of Retail Distribution for HSBC Expat based in Jersey where she had responsibility for teams in Jersey, Hong Kong and Dubai supporting expatriate customers all over the world.
Having started her career with Allied Irish Bank in the 1980s, Tania worked at Santander for 23 years, holding various senior branch network roles as well as the position of Head of Offshore Strategy and CEO for Alliance and Leicester International Ltd in the Isle of Man. Prior to joining HSBC in 2016, she was an Executive Director for Santander Private Banking, Jersey.
In her spare time, Tania is a keen runner having taken the sport up only two years ago, and is currently training for her second Jersey Marathon, alongside a number of HSBC colleagues.
She takes on the role from Chris Langford, who moves to another position within HSBC in the UK. Commenting on her new role, Tania said:
