Holme Grown, the country farm shop site at Grouville, is in the process of submitting a planning application to build a care home and Jersey Hospice Care fundraising shop.
Adjacent to Holme Grown, a separate planning application is being submitted by GroVida Jersey Limited to refurbish existing glasshouses at Fauvic Nurseries to produce cannabis-based medicinal products for the UK and European medical markets.
The popular Holme Grown farm shop will continue to trade before, during and after any proposed changes to the site. Holme Grown’s planning application will seek to:
• Replace the disused garden centre and associated glasshouse block with a care home
• Create a new retail unit for Jersey Hospice Care within the existing carpark
• Remove 21,910 m2 of redundant glasshouse blocks
• Return 11,550 m2 of land to agriculture
• Provide additional overspill car parking using permeable ‘Grasscrete’ system
• Partial demolition of a packing shed, refurbish an agricultural workshop and adjoining structures
• Relocate the parish recycling centre and improve the landscape and existing carpark
• Alterations to improve vehicle access onto La Rue au Long
The new Jersey Hospice Care shop will assist the charity with its important fundraising activities by providing an additional donation and retail outlet in the east of the island.
The proposed new care home will be operated by premium care provider, LV Care Group and comprises a purpose-built, 50-bed nursing care home built to high specification and utilising the latest medical technology. LV has commented that the care home will emphasise comfort and person-centred care and ensure that the beautiful surroundings are designed in a style sympathetic to the locality and area.
The medicinal cannabis operation, which is separate to Holme Grown, will be run by GroVida Jersey Limited who have applied to the Government of Jersey for a licence to cultivate medicinal cannabis. GroVida Jersey Limited is a joint venture between Oasthouse Ventures, a leading UK renewable energy and agri-development company and GroVida LDA Portugal, an established European cannabis cultivation and manufacture organisation.
