Pan-Channel Islands construction consultants HLG Associates have continued expanding their Jersey-based team through the appointment of a new trainee Quantity Surveyor/Project Manager.
Zoe Shannon joins to provide vital support for team members engaged on existing projects, while gaining essential knowledge, skills and experience in her own right. The company’s training programme will focus on building towards Ms Shannon becoming a specialist in quantity surveying and project management.
Zoe, who has interior design experience and presently completing the final year of a distance learning degree in the subject, is looking forward to her new role and the opportunities presented. “There are so many areas that interest me about both the role and HLG. Through study I have found a real enthusiasm for the built environment, both interior and exterior, and the overall process of design, construction and building management. HLG’s range of professional services covers all these subjects, giving me opportunities to become practically involved in and understand lots of different industry elements.”
Zoe highlights HLG’s growing range of environmental and sustainability services as one area of particular interest. “This certainly helped attract me to the role,” she adds. “As a young person who will have to live with the potential consequences of climate change, I am very passionate about sustainability. I am looking forward to becoming involved in helping organisations better understand their climate impact and ways to reduce their carbon footprint.”
HLG managing director Jerry Willis is keen to help fulfil the potential and ambitions of the team’s newest member. “We are delighted Zoe is joining our Jersey office and looking forward to supporting her career development. The trainee quantity surveyor/project manager is the first of several roles HLG are planning to fill in both Islands over the coming months. Others include qualified quantity surveyors, experienced project managers and environmental services specialists, alongside further trainee roles.
