HFL becomes Benefit Corporation certified
Share on LinkedInTwitterFacebookEmail

HFL has been certified as a Benefit Corporation, joining a community of businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy.

In a world where businesses are often evaluated solely on their bottom lines, there’s a growing movement towards recognising companies that prioritise social and environmental responsibility.

Benefit Corporation (B Corp) is a certification awarded to for-profit companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. For HFL to earn this certification, the organisation underwent a comprehensive assessment of its impact on various stakeholders including employees, communities, the environment and customers. Achieving B Corp certification signifies a company that is aiming to be a force for good in the world.

The process involves reviewing and assessing a business’s values and corporate standards to ensure it aligns with global best practice before analysing internal policies and procedures. A dedicated team works alongside the company to identify and remediate any areas that require improvement.

Businesses must score a minimum of 80 out of 200 possible points to achieve certification, showcasing their genuine commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.

Matt Westgarth-Smith, Managing Director at HFL, said: “I’m delighted that after a rigorous 12-month certification process, HFL has been certified as a B Corp. We’re proud to be counted among a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact, but our journey is only just getting started and it is one of continual learning and improvement.

“B Corp certification does not mean that we are perfect, nor that we have achieved our highest impact. It does, however, show that we are part of a global movement working collectively for economic systems change and that to stay committed to this work we must meet rising standards for social and environmental performance. I’m incredibly excited about the journey ahead.”

For HFL to maintain its certification, the organisation must undertake the assessment and verification process every three years, demonstrating how it continues to meet increasing standards of social and environmental performance.
